This contemporary art exhibition presents a narrative inspired by Wu Li’s life and cultural practices, while symbolically completing his unfinished journey to Europe over 300 years ago. Wu’s experiences established him as a pioneer of cross-cultural exchange during the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, and his stay in Macao positioned him a key figure in the cultural integration between East and West. The exhibition employs linear narratives to foster creative dialogue and explore historical accounts. By examining cultural flow and fusion in the context of globalisation, the exhibition aligns with the theme of the 61st Venice Biennale.

Curated by Chang Chan, the exhibition features large-scale art installations and digital prints created by the young Macao artist Wong Weng Cheong. . The work presents a fictional yet metaphorical world that explores the crisis of human mutation in our rapidly evolving world, driven by insatiable material desires.

‘YiiMa’ Art Group: Allegory of Dreams is a comprehensive contemporary art exhibition showing documentation of performance art, photography, videos, as well as indoor and outdoor sculptures. Curated by the international curator João Miguel Barros, the exhibition showcases works by ‘YiiMa’, an art group formed in Macao by Ung Vai Meng and Chan Hin Io. In line with ‘The Milk of Dreams’ – the title and theme of the 59th International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia – the exhibition is conceived and developed as an ‘Allegory of Dreams’. By featuring recordings of the two artist’ live performance, the event aims to present visitors with Macao’s unique cultural environment full of memories and history, offering them an opportunity to experience its dreamlike yet allegorical scenes of daily life.
