Current Exhibitions

The Cultural Affairs Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and the National Museum of China have collaborated to present The Splendour of Chinese Bronzes: Masterpieces from the National Museum of China. It presents over 150 bronzes selected from the National Museum of China’s collection. Divided into five sections, the exhibition offers audiences a window to better understand the rich connotations and important characteristics of Chinese culture by showcasing the developmental history of bronzeware through visual artistry, decoration and pattern, inscriptions and calligraphy, technical skill, and corrosion representation.

The ‘Fantastic Art World from Centre Pompidou’ features exhibitions and educational functions. Exploring the use of light and shadow, colours and shades, lines and proportions, the event creates an inspiring, artistic environment where children are immersed in exploring and creating, enjoy the fun of creativity, and broaden their aesthetic visions. The event is also designed to fuel their creativity and advance parent-child interaction.

This exhibition showcases over 300 pieces of export paintings and works in the style of George Chinnery, primarily from the Macao Museum of Art under the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Guangdong Museum, along with a selection of works housed in the Hong Kong Museum of Art of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. Through three different perspectives – painting style, painting skills, and painting materials – the exhibition unveils the visual dialogue and integration between China and the West, which were brought about by local and foreign artists in the Pearl River Delta area during the 18th and 19th centuries.
