MGM
This summer holiday, the Barra District will once again come alive with the joy and imagination of children's art from around the world. In partnership with the Cultural Affairs Bureau and celebrated French picture book artist Serge Bloch, MGM is proud to present The Magic of Lines: Serge Bloch's Wonderland of Picture Books at Navy Yards No. 1 and No. 2, the exhibition's satellite venues. Bursting with childlike wonder and boundless creativity, the exhibition promises to be a delightful celebration for all ages.
With just a few simple brushstrokes, Bloch's works convey warmth, humour, and contemplations on life. This marks the first time his solo exhibition is being showcased in Macao, inviting audiences to explore and reflect on their life experiences through his distinctive line art. This exhibition’s life-inspired creativity aligns perfectly with MGM's ‘Art of Living’ ethos – we believe that art should be woven into life, breathing with the city and subtly enriching the community.
Art should be something we can all connect with, something that resonates with our everyday experiences. That's why the Barra District is such a fitting setting as an exhibition venue, with its vibrant community spirit and cultural rhythm. This showcase is more than just an art exhibition; it's a celebration of the joyful moments that make up our lives. Like Bloch's illustrations, it draws from everyday life, blending with a simplicity that touches the heart and sparks imagination. We sincerely hope that this exhibition not only reflects the district's rich history as a meeting point of Eastern and Western cultures, but also invites families to explore together and create new, joyful memories of the district in the process.
Finally, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Cultural Affairs Bureau for their trust and support, which has enabled MGM to continue planting cultural seeds throughout the city. I wish this year's International Children's Art Festival and exhibition every success. Let's celebrate the spirit of childlike wonder and curiosity together and let Bloch's playful lines guide us on a journey of artistic exploration this summer.
