Palace of Double Brilliance

Special Exhibition from the Palace Museum

Macao Government Tourism Office

Since Macao’s return to the motherland in 1999, the Macao Government Tourism Office has annually participated in the large-scale exhibition showcasing cultural relics from the Ming and Qing dynasties, co-organised by the Palace Museum and the Macao Museum of Art (MAM). This unique exhibition not only offers invaluable cultural exchange but also brings top-notch artistic experiences to audiences at home and abroad. In addition, it adds cultural charm to this beautiful tourist city, making it shine even brighter on the international stage. This year, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland, we are delighted to welcome another culturally significant event – Palace of Double Brilliance: Special Exhibition from the Palace Museum.

Themed on Emperor Qianlong’s Palace of Double Brilliance (Chonghua Gong), the exhibition features more than 130 precious artefacts from the Palace Museum. It presents a multi-faceted and multilevel portrayal of the cultural tastes and literacy of this supreme ruler of feudal society. These relics exemplify Emperor Qianlong’s exceptional artistic sensibility and passion for culture, enhancing our understanding of China’s long history and rich cultural heritage.

As a gateway for cultural exchange between China and the world, Macao remains steadfastly dedicated to creating and promoting diverse cultural activities. The series of exhibitions co-organised by the MAM and the Palace Museum, a shining example of this commitment, showcases Macao as a city rich in culture. This initiative not only elevates the city’s international recognition, but also safeguards and promotes the essence and traditions of Chinese culture.

I hope that Palace of Double Brilliance: Special Exhibition from the Palace Museum provides visitors and citizens with a unique and unforgettable cultural experience.

I wish the exhibition great success!
