Arts education is the wellspring that nourishes life and serves as a significant driving force for the development of a city. This year, Macao hosts its first-ever Macao International Children’s Art Festival, gathering art groups from home and abroad to present a series of captivating activities. These vibrant energies of art bring forth a fresh artistic celebration this summer in Macao, adding dazzling beauty to the cultural landscape of this city.
The cultivation of children’s art fuels little ones’ creativity and nurtures their keen observation, rich imagination and proactive expression. The city is infused with vitality and strength through children’s unbridled creativity.
MGM Macau is honoured to be part of the Fantastic Art World from Centre Pompidou exhibition, collaborating with the Macao SAR Government’s Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Centre Pompidou in Paris, France. The exhibition is held at the former slaughterhouse at Barra, which blends Chinese and Western characteristics. The show presents The Plantamouves, a giant interactive art installation that showcases many ‘vines’. Not only does it breathe new life into this historical structure that carries Macao’s long-standing cultural heritage, but it also invites children to become co-creators of this public art, igniting the concept of ‘everyone is an artist’. In this way, art is integrated into everyday life and brought into the community.
Coinciding with the 60th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between China and France, we hope this exhibition can utilise this dynamic vine art installation to showcase the harmonious integration of Chinese and French cultures. Additionally, it enriches Macao’s cultural landscape and adds new highlights to the close ties between China and France. I believe that this remarkable art event will offer a new opportunity to promote cultural and artistic exchanges and foster development between the two places.
I am grateful to the Cultural Affairs Bureau for supporting MGM in continuously creating more innovative public art space for Macao. I wish this art festival and exhibition great success and hope they will nurture the creativity of Macao’s future generations through this art collaboration.
