From Lines to Planes – Technique Pen Drawing Workshop

‘Art Macao’ Events for Friends of MAM

2023/09/03 - 2023/09/03
Macao Museum of Art, Art Square (Ground floor of Handover Gifts Museum of Macao)

‘Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2023’ explores the connection between science and religion, with a theme of ‘The Statistics of Fortune’. It features 30 exhibitions, including the Main Exhibition and the Invitational Exhibition of Local Artists, in eight sections across Macao. The Macao Museum of Art (MAM) has presented diverse activities for the Friends of MAM to celebrate this large-scale international cultural event. One is ‘From Lines to Planes – Technique Pen Drawing Workshop’, led by artist Eric Fok Hoi Seng, who is featured in the ‘Invitational Exhibition of Local Artists’.

The artist will explain the creative concepts of his featured artwork while also demonstrating the drawing techniques he has applied to the artwork with a technique pen. He will guide the participants in creating three-dimensional pictures with overlapping and intertwined lines. By using perspective and drawing on wooden boxes, the participants will understand the artist’s creative expressions and pursuits, such as painting mediums, textures and expressive traces. The enriching experience will enhance the participants’ aesthetic values and artistic sense. The activity is free; the participants can take their finished works as souvenirs.

Instructor

Macao-born artist Eric Fok Hoi Seng draws his meticulous works with a technical pen, integrating ancient maps with contemporary ideas. Through the Age of Discovery concepts, he seeks to explore a city’s memories and examines issues such as urban development and globalisation. His works have earned places in public and private collections at home and abroad.
