Exploring the Art of Watercolour
In this workshop, participants will learn about the different painting materials featured in the exhibition and will be able to explore the watercolour works on display. Watercolour is a common type of painting in modern Western painting, whose clear and diaphanous effect produces highly vivid and natural paintings. In this workshop, participants will use wash drawing to portray Macao landscapes.
Exploring the Art of Reverse Glass Painting
In this workshop, participants will learn about the different painting materials featured in the exhibition and will be able to explore the reverse glass painting works on display. Reverse glass painting, as the name suggests, is a type of painting that is done on glass and is an important category of export painting. Among its various subgenres, painting on mirrored glass requires the partial removal of the tin layer on the back of the mirror, where the painting is done in reverse and viewed from the front side. In this workshop, participants will learn to create reverse glass painting works inspired by this type of work.
Exploring the Art of Bodhi Leaf Painting
In this workshop, participants will learn about the different painting materials featured in the exhibition and will be able to explore the Bodhi leaf painting works on display. Bodhi leaf painting is an organic combination of leaf and painting, taking advantage of the shape, veins, and folds of the leaves themselves as a basis for painting various motifs in coloured ink and Chinese ink. In this workshop, participants will use Bodhi leaves as a canvas to paint colourful flowers.
Exploring the Art of Tongcao Painting
In this workshop, participants will learn about the different painting materials featured in the exhibition and will be able to explore the Tongcao works on display. Tongcao painting, as the name suggests, is a type of painting carried out on a type of paper made from the stems and pith of the rice paper plant (common Chinese name: Tongcao; scientific name: Tetrapanax papyrifer). These exquisite Tongcao paintings are not only products stemming from a trading impulse, but also stand as a testimony to the history of cultural exchange between China and the West. In this workshop, participants will be able to experience the pleasure of drawing human figures on rice paper.
