The famous Macao painter, the late Lok Cheong (1923-2006), made a tremendous contribution to the local painting circle. The Cultural Affairs Bureau's Macao Museum of Art (MAM) has now organised Centennial Retrospective of Lok Cheong's Art to commemorate his 100th birthday. The show features 150 remarkable artworks by Lok Cheong and his friends, including oil paintings, watercolours, drawings, manuscripts and documents. Together, they cast a light on Lok Cheong’s life, artistic career and legacy.
Accompanying the exhibition is a sharing session led by veteran artists from the Macau Artist Society - Ung Si Meng, Cheong Siu Chun, Cheong Iu Sang and Lai Ieng – Ng Fong Chao, Macao Museum of Art Curator, and Chan Kai Chun, Macao Museum of Art Researcher. They will discuss Lok Cheong's life, creative characteristics and pursuit of blending Chinese and Western painting techniques, while also sharing some moving anecdotes about how Lok advocated the development of Macao art. Together, they allow the audience to experience Lok’s love for his homeland and country through his art.
