"Candida Höfer: Epic Gaze" is internationally renowned photography artist Candida Höfer's first large-scale exhibition in Macao. The exhibition displays her emblematic work over the past two decades and includes some new works that have never been shown. The show title "Epic Gaze" refers to Höfer's epic gaze into the enormous space of human history and civilisation, such as theatres, museums and libraries.
Accompanying the exhibition are two discussions between curators João Ó and Rita Machado and professionals, respectively – one with the artist Candida Höfer and Herbert Burkert, an art critic and the executive member of the Board of Directors of Candida Höfer Foundation, the other with Macao photography artist Wong Ho Sang. The discussions provide different interpretations of the exhibits, allowing the audience to gain a deeper understanding of Höfer's unique work, and offer an invaluable opportunity for the artist, local art professionals and enthusiasts to exchange ideas.
