Echo the wind wanderer

Message

Within the pulse and breath of this city, art always finds the most curious ways to remind us to see the world anew. Echo the Wind Wanderer is precisely that – it is not merely an exhibition, but an invitation, an adventure, and the unveiling of a parallel world.

Ekokaxi Wang is a contemporary artist specialising in immersive, interactive experiences. Using mixed media such as clay, paper, yarn, and sponge, she creates parallel worlds filled with unusual creatures that visitors are encouraged to touch and explore. She invites audiences to embrace their inner child and engage freely in a safe environment. Ekokaxi’s work features Miró-esque lines and symbolic imagery, blending dreamlike poetry with playful elements. Her spatial weaving and repetition recall Yayoi Kusama’s ‘Infinity Nets’ and polka-dot motifs, offering both healing and challenge. Through soft materials and whimsical forms, she creates spaces that are intimate yet unfamiliar, reminiscent of Niki de Saint Phalle’s vibrant sculptures, formerly exhibited at the Macao Museum of Art. Through misreading, reinterpretation, and re-creation, these influences merge into an independent parallel world, forming the artist’s unique ‘Echo’s Universe.’

This exhibition presents Echo’s life journey through several sections. In ‘Echo’s Cabinet of Curiosities’, visitors explore the formative stages of the artist’s creative work. ‘Re-coding Macao’ depicts a city where imagery overcomes language barriers, inviting the audience to become co-creators with Echo. ‘Aquarium Adventures’ provides a sanctuary that also introduces challenges. In the final section, ‘Wandering in a Parallel World’, each artwork becomes a companion, inviting Echo and the audience to embark on an adventure to rediscover the freedom of childhood.

Echo the Wind Wanderer reminds us that art is not only for observation but also for participation, collaboration, and shared creation. By entering Echo’s artistic world, we become part of it.

This exhibition is part of the 3rd Macao International Children’s Arts Festival. We warmly invite residents, tourists, adults, and children alike to explore the exhibition, rediscover sensory experiences, and enjoy a space of freedom and ease.
